Fla. Drilling Rights Plea Rejected by U.S.

The Bush administration has rejected an appeal from President Bush’s younger brother, Florida Gov. Jeb Bush, to scrap the planned auction of offshore oil and gas leases in the eastern Gulf of Mexico, USA Today reported.
Interior Secretary Gale A. Norton informed the governor last week that the administration plans to post notices of the sale in July, the newspaper said.
Jeb Bush has been leading Florida’s effort to block the sale of coveted offshore oil and gas leases off the coast of the Sunshine State.
