Tobacco Promotion
Re “Philip Morris Stops Giveaway of Book Covers,” April 17: It is sadly disturbing to see that at least some in the tobacco industry still haven’t gotten the message. Don’t advertise to kids! Philip Morris’ slick promotion using book covers with a “Think. Don’t Smoke” message is not subtle at all.
How about this: Go ahead and put your company name and logo on a book cover that has pictures of a cirrhotic liver, a black lung (or one with emphysema), cancer of the mouth, or perhaps a child who has lost his or her parent to the use of one of your products.
