Titans Score 1,000th Win
Sophomore Jenny Topping knocked in the winning run with a bases-loaded groundout in the fourth inning to lead Cal State Fullerton to a 4-2 Big West Conference victory over Cal State Northridge in the second game of a doubleheader Saturday at Northridge.
It was the 1,000th softball victory for Fullerton and kept the Titans (42-12, 15-2) two games ahead of second-place Pacific.
The Titans, ranked eighth in the country, took a 2-0 lead in the second inning on a run-scoring groundout by senior Brenda Iglesias and an RBI single by freshman Julie Watson.
Fullerton sophomore Gina Oaks (17-6) went seven innings and gave up two runs on five hits. She struck out nine and walked three.
No. 25 Northridge (28-21, 12-5) won the first game, 1-0.
