Fire in Vacant Building Arson, Officials Say
From a Times Staff Writer
A fire in a vacant West Hills building that had been a chicken restaurant was a case of arson, fire officials said Tuesday.
Investigators determined that the fire early Monday was incendiary, Los Angeles Fire Department spokesman Bob Collis said.
The one-story building at 22816 Vanowen St. in the Fallbrook Mall was once a location of a Kenny Rogers Roasters restaurant.
“There was no way for [the fire] to have happened except with human help,” Collis said.
The total estimated loss is $250,000. No injuries were reported.
