Irvin Earns Berth in Tennis Tournament

Marissa Irvin of Santa Monica defeated Wynne Prakusya of India, 7-6 (6), 6-4, in the second round of qualifying Saturday to earn a berth in the $565,000 Estyle.com Classic that begins today at Manhattan Beach.

Irvin will face wild-card entry Cory Ann Avants in the first round. The tournament runs through Aug. 13.

* Nima Roshan of Northridge defeated Nathan Sachs of Alpharetta, Ga., 6-4, 7-5, in the first round of the Boys’ 16 Super National Hard Court Championships in Kalamazoo, Mich.

Jason Mossembekker of Camarillo defeated Alexandru Cojanu of Hallandale, Fla., 6-4, 6-2, and Yevgeny Supeko of Ojai beat W.J. Plyler of Raleigh, N.C., 6-3, 6-3.

Carsten Ball of Newport Beach beat Ira Reibeisen of Armonk, N.Y., 6-4, 6-0. Adam Loucks of Irvine defeated Scott Blackmon of Pensacola, Fla., 6-2, 6-0, and Christian Hand of Placentia went three sets to beat Rodney Vickers of Houston, 1-6, 6-4, 6-4.
