11 Died in Car Wrecks Over Holiday Weekend
Eleven people died in traffic accidents on Los Angeles County freeways over the long Christmas weekend, the California Highway Patrol reported Thursday.
Statewide, there were 41 fatalities during the CHP’s maximum enforcement period from 6 p.m. Dec. 21 until midnight Tuesday.
Among those killed on county roads was Gilbert A. Tinoso, 38, of Norwalk, who died Saturday in a freak accident on the Golden State Freeway in Burbank. A spare tire broke loose from an oncoming cement truck and flew across the center divider into the cab of Tinoso’s pickup. The crash remains under investigation, officials said.
