Allison Worth Being Center of Attention

What the Kings got when they acquired center Jason Allison is becoming more and more apparent.

Allison had a nine-game point streak, a career high, before Thursday’s game against the Ducks. The Kings were 6-1-2 in those games.

He had two goals in that streak, both deflected off a defenseman late in the third period to give the Kings 1-1 ties against Nashville and Phoenix.

“It’s difficult to say how good Jason Allison is or can be,” King Coach Andy Murray said. “He has played very well for us, yet you keep thinking he could get better. If that learning curve continues to go up, we’ll be really excited.”

Allison has eight goals and 28 points in 28 games since he and left wing Mikko Eloranta were acquired from Boston for Jozef Stumpel and Glen Murray in October. But his recent streak has been a lift to the Kings.

“He’s a guy that’s always around the puck,” Murray said. “You look at the goals we’ve scored in this series of wins and he has been a key part of that. He’s not the most fluid skater in the world, but he is a fierce competitor.”

Duck goalie Jean-Sebastien Giguere is having a December to remember, with a 1.32 goals-against average and .951 save percentage in nine games before Thursday. He had a 3-1 record, allowing only four goals, in his last four starts....

Duck defenseman Vitaly Vishnevski was scratched Thursday because of a sprained ankle.... King right wing Brad Chartrand, who has missed nine games because of an abdominal injury, returned to the King lineup Thursday.
