Yosemite Raises Several Camping Fees

Starting Feb. 15, camping fees will go up at Yosemite National Park for the first time in five years.

Family campsites (up to six people each) increase to $18 per site from $15, group sites to $40 from $35 and so-called stock sites (accommodating horses) to $25 from $20. Backpackers’ sites, priced per person, increase to $5 from $3; they include sites in Yosemite Valley, Tuolumne Meadows and Hetch Hetchy. First-come, first served sites go up $2, to either $8 or $12, depending on the site.

Spokesman Scott Gediman said the new fees were set after Yosemite surveyed other national and state parks. State-run parks in California, benefiting from state budget surpluses, have reduced fees in the last year, with the final cuts taking effect last month.
