Costa Mesa 87, Laguna Beach 48--Steve Whittaker scored 25 points and Mike Payne had 17 for the Mustangs (16-9, 6-3), who moved into a tie for first.

Estancia 54, Northwood 49--Micah Young and Kenny Valbuena had 12 points and 10 rebounds each for the Eagles (10-14, 5-4), who converted 10 of 11 fourth-quarter free-throw attempts.

Drew Terry scored 22 points for Northwood (18-7, 5-4), which fell into a tie for third with the Eagles.

In the Century League:

Foothill 68, El Modena 49--Chad Bigler, the leading scorer in the county, had 36 points and 12 rebounds to lead Foothill (13-12, 5-4), which clinched third place.
