Misleading ‘Easy to Read’ Labels Could Have Disastrous Results
The Feb. 12 issue displayed a sample of the Food and Drug Administration’s new “easy to read” drug information. It might be wise if a person familiar with American usage were used in the project. The sample stipulates in bold letters: “Warning: Use in Pregnancy.” Below, in much smaller type, it describes the horrifying results of its use during pregnancy.
If this were viewed by someone as deficient in the English language as the author of the warning, I fear the results.
The heading should say “Do not use.”
