Magnitude 6 Quake Kills 3, Injures 109

Three people were killed and about 20,000 houses were destroyed when a magnitude 6 earthquake struck a remote area of China’s southwestern Sichuan province, a local official said.
The quake left 109 people injured and seven missing Friday after it struck a mountainous area populated by ethnic Tibetans.
The tremor seriously damaged roads and services, including water supplies, power and telecommunications, the official said.
The New China News Agency reported that the quake rocked Yajiang and Kangding counties at 8:09 a.m. and was felt in 20 towns.
