Armed Man Robs Ventura Market
VENTURA — An armed man robbed a midtown market Thursday evening and fled on foot with an undisclosed amount of cash, police said.
The man walked into Jue’s Market on East Main Street about 8 p.m., just as the store was about to close and stood in line, Sgt. Sean Conroy said. When his turn came with the cashier, he reportedly pulled out a stainless-steel automatic handgun and demanded that the cashier fill a bag with money.
About four employees and three customers were in the store, an employee said. No one was hurt.
The man was described as a white, possibly in his 50s, about 5-foot-9, with a medium build and “weathered look.”
Police believe that the man later stole a bicycle in the neighborhood for his escape.
