Water Board Votes to Keep Existing Pay
Yorba Linda Water District board members have not had a raise in 10 years--neither has the City Council--and that suits most of them just fine.
Water board members recently voted 4 to 1 to make no change to their compensation for 2001. Council members, likewise, have not given themselves a raise since 1991.
For nearly a decade, water board members have earned $125 per board meeting and $50 for other agency-related meetings, district General Manager Bill Robertson said. Board member Art Korn voted against keeping compensation the same for another year, saying the board’s time was worth more than that.
City Council members in 1991 increased their pay from $400 to $500 per month, and it’s remained the same since. The law allows elected officials to increase their compensation by up to 5% per year.
