Arrojo Permanent Education Director at Art Museum
The acting education director at the Orange County Museum of Art in Newport Beach was named to the post permanently Tuesday, museum officials said.
Elena S. Arrojo served as interim administrator after Maxine Gaiber left the museum Nov. 17.
Like her predecessor, Arrojo’s responsibilities will include developing outreach programs aimed at first-time museum-goers, students and art collectors. She also will oversee the docent program, the Tuesday Talks at Noon, a film series and art tour programs by the area’s school districts.
Arrojo joined OCMA as outreach associate in 1996, when the museum was formed after a rocky merger of the Newport Harbor and Laguna art museums. She was named Outstanding Museum Visual Art Educator by the California Art Education Assn. in 1999.
