FOOTBALL
* Craig Schuler has resigned after one season as coach at Alemany High to return to his home in Kansas for family reasons, Athletic Director Tim Browne said.
Schuler coached Alemany to a 2-8 record. The school will take job applications until Feb. 5.
* Backup quarterback J.K. Scott of Washington, a former Burroughs High standout, will transfer to Liberty University, an NCAA Division I-AA school in Lynchburg, Va. He will be eligible next season, his senior year.
TRACK AND FIELD
* The Cal State Northridge women have been picked to win the Big Sky Conference indoor title in a preseason coaches’ poll.
Northridge, which won the 1999 Big Sky indoor title, totaled 59 points in the voting by conference coaches, with defending champion Northern Arizona at 58.
The Northridge men were picked to finish fourth behind defending champion Northern Arizona, Weber State and Idaho State.
