New Deal for Blake Should Be Taylor Made
How about this, Dave Taylor? You go to Toronto instead of Rob Blake, and stay there.
Now, we all understand, Mr. Taylor, that you are doing this for “the good of the sport,” but how about signing Blake for the good of the team and the fans. King brass, take a good look around the league at all the other teams that are salivating and waiting for you to make this mistake.

It has become apparent that Dave Taylor is in way over his head in the Rob Blake situation. He is possibly going to let one of the top three defensemen in the NHL get away from the organization under the excuse of fiscal responsibility. By letting him go, you take away a presence on and off the ice that will not be filled.
Even a Mickey Mouse organization like the Ducks knows it has to keep its marquee players, all two of them, and Rob Blake is about as marquee as they come. If you are so worried about fiscal responsibility, Mr. Taylor, consider this: Rob Blake goes, and so do the fans. And that seems very irresponsible, wouldn’t you say?
Remember the years after Wayne Gretzky’s departure? Seven thousand fans a night? It could happen again, and instead of making deals for players, Dave Taylor will be making deals for tickets to see the Kings, because he’ll be out of a job.
