* UC IRVINE (8-2, 0-0) at PACIFIC (9-3, 1-0), 7:30 p.m., KUCI-FM (88.9)--College buddies at Pacific, Pat Douglass of Irvine and Bob Thomason of Pacific have spent much time huddled together before their Big West Conference opener, but no word as to what the two former Tigers, now coaches at their respective schools, said to each other. “When I win he’s happy for me and when he wins I’m happy for him,” Thomason said. Douglass has gotten the better of his close friend lately, winning two games last season. Irvine backup center Stanislaus Zuzak injured his right ankle in practice Thursday and may play sparingly. Irvine also is without 7-2 center Dave Korfman, who underwent brain surgery last Monday after he passed out and hit his head on a wall while lifting weights.
