WOMEN
* USC (5-6, 0-1) at WASHINGTON (8-3, 1-0), 1 p.m.--Beaten Thursday on a last-second layup by Washington State’s Brittney Hawks, USC tries for a 1-1 mark on its opening Pacific 10 Conference weekend. The Trojans led most of the way Thursday and 40-33 at the break but lost their lead when the Cougars got a three-point play for a 72-72 tie with 3:04 left. After that, there were five lead changes before Hawks’ last-gasp layup.
* UCLA (1-11, 0-1) at WASHINGTON STATE (6-5, 1-0), 7 p.m., KXTA (1150)--UCLA, winless since a Dec. 10 victory over Long Beach State, still showed a punchless offense in dropping its Pac-10 opener to Washington on Thursday. Michelle Greco continues to lead the conference in scoring and scored a game-high 19 points against the Huskies but was only seven of 21 from the field.
