Abraham Helps Oxnard Defeat Camarillo in Double Overtime
Sienna Abraham scored eight of her game-high 24 points in the second overtime to lead Oxnard High to an 84-79 victory over Camarillo in a Pacific View League girls’ basketball game Tuesday night at Oxnard.
Camarillo’s Rachel Young made a free throw with 0.8 seconds to left in the first overtime to tie the score, 70-70.
Oxnard (9-8, 3-0 in league play), which trailed by 17 points late in the third quarter, used a 19-6 run to cut Camarillo’s lead to 58-54 with 1:53 left in the fourth quarter.
Oxnard’s Jacqui Heck hit three consecutive three-pointers in the final 20.4 seconds, the last as time expired, to send the game into overtime tied, 63-63.
Camarillo’s Gillian Lillich scored a career-high 37 points, including 20 in the first half. The Scorpions (14-3, 1-1) led, 37-28, at halftime. Young finished with 16 points. Lindsay Calderon scored 18 points for Camarillo.
Heck scored nine of her 14 points in the fourth quarter. Courtney Pena added 16 points and 13 rebounds for Oxnard.
Oxnard’s Tiffany Walker scored 16 points, making all 10 of her free throws.
