Aid Sought in Finding Teenage Girls’ Attacker
Detectives are seeking the public’s help in identifying a man who has sexually assaulted several teenage girls and raped one in northeast Los Angeles since 1995.
The latest assault took place Monday when a 15-year-old Marshall High School student was grabbed, fondled and then robbed, said Los Angeles Police Det. Gregory Stone.
All but one of the 10 attacks have occurred near the Hyperion Bridge, near Hyperion Avenue and Riverside Drive. The rape occurred in July 1997 in the area.
Police describe the assailant as Latino, 30 to 35 years old, no more than 5-foot-8, with a large potbelly and a big “potato-shaped” nose. Victims told police that he has a strong body odor and wears a black knit cap or beanie, Stone said. The man appears to be jogging seconds before he attacks, he said.
Anyone with information is asked to call Stone at (213) 763-5061.
