Moral of the Story: Love Is for Losers

For years, managers of prizefighters wouldn’t let the wife or girlfriend get near him before his upcoming fight.

Pete Sampras, since he got married to his beautiful wife, doesn’t seem to have the get up and go he once did. Andre Agassi, busy having children with his girlfriend, has also fallen down on the job, or should I say court? And the latest casualty is Tiger Woods, who, since meeting his girlfriend, has shown he’s only human.

I would liken this to a Samson and Delilah syndrome.

I found your July 13 article titled “Great Expectations” very disturbing. Two things immediately crossed my mind: The first is that it should have been titled “Former Role Model Steffi Graf Loses Her Moral Compass.” The second is that I find it incredulous that the Los Angeles Times and Lisa Dillman find it necessary to promote unwed parenthood on the front page of the sports section.
