Stabbing Victim Hospitalized in Stable Condition
OXNARD — A man remained in serious but stable condition Friday after being stabbed in the kidney as he walked down an Oxnard street earlier in the day, authorities said.
Lorenzo Martinez, 47, of Oxnard told officers at the scene of the 2:15 a.m. incident that he was attacked by three male teenagers as he was walking in the 100 block of East 5th Street near Plaza Park in downtown Oxnard.
He said the teenagers approached him and demanded money, according to Officer John Laredo of the Oxnard Police Department.
As he attempted to hand over an unspecified amount of cash, one of the attackers stabbed him in the right side. The trio left the money behind and ran, Laredo said.
The victim was taken to St. John’s Regional Medical Center.
