Getting to Vegas
In response to the Jan. 7 letter (‘On the Wrong Track’) from Ken Bird, in which he says that establishing Amtrak service from Los Angeles to Las Vegas would “do little” to reduce air and road congestion and would increase the “huge deficits” the taxpayer must pay for Amtrak: I wonder if he has ever contemplated how many of the 2.3 million people who annually fly this route would continue to do so if the taxpayers discontinued their huge subsidy of the air traffic control system?
