Global Conference to Feature Nobel Prize Winners
The Milken Institute will hold its annual global conference, featuring talks by Nobel Prize-winning economists and scientists, along with big-company chief executives, Tuesday and Wednesday in Santa Monica. Discussion topics will include the effect of the U.S. business slowdown on the global economy, the changing fortunes of e-commerce companies, international investment prospects and how technology is changing global finance. Among the 150 speakers will be Nobel laureate economist Gary Becker of the University of Chicago and Nobel-winning scientist David Baltimore, president of Caltech in Pasadena. Among the business leaders scheduled to speak are Safeway Inc. Chief Executive Steven Burd; News Corp. President Peter Chernin; Stephen E. Frank, CEO of Southern California Edison Co.; and Yahoo Inc. CEO Timothy Koogle.
