Here It Is: The Missing Murray-Simers Link
Publishing that column by the late Jim Murray [“Uncle Ed Would Be a Proud Name-Dropper,” May 12] was a great reminder of Murray’s genius as a sportswriter. To this day, no one has been able to match Murray’s talents as a wordsmith.

Dear T.J. critics,
Get a brain, get a life and get serious. In the unlikely event you should go two for three, maybe you can also get a sense of humor.
If you’re cranky and dull, maybe it’s because you’re not getting enough rest. I recommend watching ice hockey. It’s the universal cure for insomnia.
If you think T.J.’s picking on poor old USC, grow up. Is there any good reason why he shouldn’t?
As for Robby Sharf of L.A., nice counting! In the reprint of Jim Murray’s column in last Saturday’s Times, Murray made reference to himself 29 times and to his uncle 43 times. Is that why you really despise Jim Murray’s writing too?
Stick to the comics, and avoid using sharp instruments.
