Graduation to Feature Missing Firefighters
About 250 firefighters will graduate today from the Fire Academy, including six who are missing and presumed dead at the World Trade Center.
Six empty chairs in the Brooklyn College ceremony will mark their places, Deputy Fire Commissioner Frank Gribbon said.
The families of all six have accepted invitations to attend and are expected to accept the graduation certificates, Gribbon said.
The missing firefighters were part of the second probationary class to attend the training academy this year and were stationed in firehouses around New York City.
They will graduate in absentia along with members of the second and third probationary classes of the year.
