Green Bay at Chicago, 10 a.m., Channel 11
AND THEN, SUDDENLY, THE CUPBOARD WAS BEAR
At 6-1 after consecutive logic-and bookie-defying overtime victories over San Francisco and Cleveland, the Chicago Bears are:
a) Products of divine intervention.
b) Products of a weak fifth-place schedule.
c) Produce about to be sliced and diced today by the amazing all-in-one Favre-O-Matic.
If you opted for all of the above, you are not alone. Last week, a personnel director for an NFC team told the Milwaukee Sentinel Journal, “I think the Bears’ magic runs out this week.... [The Packers] are just better than the Bears. The Bears will play on emotion and guts and guile and all that this week. It’s just not going to matter. Brett Favre will carry the day.”
That pretty much covers it, I’d say. Game to be aired live on Fox, then again on ESPN’s Foregone Conclusions Classic.
The line: Green Bay by 21/2.
