In football:
Ventura St. Bonaventure 52, Los Angeles Verbum Dei 12-- Running back Lorenzo Booker passed the 8,000-yard mark in career rushing by gaining 209 yards in 14 carries. He also had five touchdowns in the Division XI quarterfinal at Ventura High.
The Seraphs (12-0) scored 38 points in the first quarter to earn a semifinal berth against Cerritos Valley Christian. Verbum Dei finishes 8-2.
