Olson’s Arm Lifts Thousand Oaks

Quarterback Ben Olson completed 20 of 26 passes for 342 yards with five touchdowns to lead Thousand Oaks to a 45-14 victory over Simi Valley Royal on Friday at Royal High.

Thousand Oaks (4-2, 3-0 Marmonte League) scored 31 unanswered points over the final three quarters to take control of the game and, ultimately, the league race.

Olson threw touchdown passes of 22, 13, 80, 14 and 10 yards. His 80-yard touchdown to Corey Mazza and a 14-yarder to Dave Anderson highlighted a 17-point outburst in the second quarter, which broke a 14-14 tie.

Kevin Rex had nine catches for 140 yards and Mazza had five catches for 122 yards. Anderson caught four passes for 63 yards, including two touchdowns, and also had an 81-yard touchdown on an interception return.

Quarterback James Cox of Royal (4-2, 1-1) completed 14 of 26 passes for 232 yards, including touchdown passes of eight and 80. The 80-yard touchdown pass to Greg Morris tied the score, 14-14, in the first quarter.
