State Probe May Stall Argyros’ Spain Posting

The White House sent the name of Orange County businessman George L. Argyros to the U.S. Senate on Tuesday as its nominee for ambassador to Spain.
The nomination was part of a formal submission of about 80 names of presidential appointments that require Senate approval.
Senate sources have said hearings on Argyros are unlikely until the state attorney general’s office completes an investigation into complaints that Argyros’ Arlen Management Co. defrauded former tenants by systematically withholding security deposits.
