‘Right to Procreate’
Re “Judges Back Procreation by Inmates,” Sept. 6: I read with interest that a majority of the U.S. 9th Circuit Court of Appeals ruled that a three-strike convict serving a 111-year sentence has a “fundamental right to procreate” that “survives incarceration.” I was wondering if my fundamental rights as a taxpayer will be superseded by this convict’s rights, as he will not be around to support this new life financially. This legal body is clearly attacking the important issues of the day!

Do the prisoners’ rights to procreate outweigh a child’s right to grow up in a two-parent home? Who takes care of this child, both emotionally and financially? I think the judges need to give this matter some more thought.
