Madonna’s Concert Among Events Rescheduled, Canceled
Because of Tuesday’s attacks, a number of arts, entertainment and leisure events have been canceled or postponed. It is advisable to call venues for confirmation of events.
As of press time Thursday, these events had been canceled, rescheduled or postponed:
* Madonna’s Tuesday concert has been rescheduled for Saturday night at Staples Center. She will be performing tonight as well. Because of heightened security measures, ticketholders should arrive at least an hour ahead of the 8 p.m. show.
* The Audra MacDonald concert tonight at the California Center for the Arts in Escondido has been canceled. Tickets may be returned to the point of purchase. (800) 988-4253.
* The Blink-182 concerts have been rescheduled. Ticketholders for Wednesday’s concert at the Long Beach Arena will be honored next Wednesday at the venue. The Thursday concert at the Pond of Anaheim has been rescheduled for Sunday.
* The Cake concert at the Mayan Theatre in Los Angeles has been rescheduled for Oct. 21 at 8 p.m.
* Jessica Simpson’s Saturday concert at the Sun theatre has been rescheduled for Oct. 28.
* The MuppetFest scheduled for Sept. 22-23 at the Pasadena Center has been postponed indefinitely.
* The free concert today by the jazz group Gravity at the City of Beverly Hills Parking Lot has been canceled.
* Sonora Carruseles has been rescheduled from Thursday to next Thursday at the Sportsmen’s Lodge.
* Zoo District has postponed the opening of its play “Uppa Creek” at the Hudson Backstage Theatre in Hollywood until next Friday. The play was to open tonight.
* Sledgehammer Theatre canceled tonight’s performance of “Quoth the Raven” at St. Cecilia’s Playhouse in San Diego. It will resume its regular schedule Saturday.
* There will be no fireworks during the “Fireworks Finale-the First Ten Years!” show at the Hollywood Bowl tonight, Saturday and Sunday.
Singer Billy Gilman has canceled his appearance in the program; singer Marni Nixon may not appear because of travel difficulties.
Nell Carter, also on the program, lives in Los Angeles.
* Clinton Leupp’s show, “Glorious Wounds ... She’s Damaged,” at the Village at Ed Gould Plaza in Hollywood, has canceled performances tonight and Saturday. The show will resume next Friday.
* “Dish Babies” at Two Roads Theatre in Studio City will be dark tonight. It will resume Saturday.
* Theatre Pangaea has postponed tonight’s opening of “Quake” at the Hollywood Court Theatre until Saturday.
