Trainer Baffert Is Fined $300
Bob Baffert, the country’s leading trainer, has been fined $300 by the stewards at Fairplex Park after one of his horses tested positive for a prohibited anti-inflammatory drug at Del Mar.
Kinshasa, who finished second as the favorite in the $57,000 allowance race on Aug. 4, tested positive for Dexamethasone, a Class VI drug.
As the result of a court order in June, Baffert has continued to train after receiving a 60-day suspension from the California Horse Racing Board. That penalty, which was to start on June 25, was assessed after one of Baffert’s horses tested positive for morphine following a race last year at Hollywood Park.
