Too Close to Home
I am the president of the West Valley LAPD PALS, and one of our aims is to teach the youths attending our center some decent values, values they may not always find at home. So I was offended in your women’s fashion issue to see a man’s body floating in a swimming pool, next to which a woman stands holding a gun (“Ready for Her Close-Up,” Aug. 19). Even though your magazine is obviously taking artistic license, I have to tell you how offensive this image is. Surely there are other ways to re-create Old Hollywood and the classic movies. In a city where homicides and deaths are everyday news to many, why glamorize it?
