Forced ATM Withdrawal Ends With Four Arrests
Four people were in custody on suspicion of robbery and kidnapping after they allegedly forced a man at gunpoint to withdraw $100 from an ATM.
Police said the unidentified 27-year-old victim was a former roommate of one of the suspects.
The incident occurred about 9:48 a.m. Saturday when Richard James Vanrossum, 40, of Desert Hot Springs, and Jason Michael Abbey, 28, of Huntington Beach allegedly went to the victim’s home in the 200 block of North Oak Street, drew a gun and demanded $100.
As two other suspects--Patricia Robbins, 30, of Yorba Linda, and Trisha Gregory, 31, of Desert Hot Springs--waited, police said, the victim was escorted to a nearby ATM to make the withdrawal, then was returned home.
The suspects fled as the victim called police, who quickly stopped them, police said.
