Davis Signs Bill to Build 5 Veterans Homes
From Staff and Wire Reports
Gov. Gray Davis on Wednesday signed bipartisan legislation authorizing construction of five state-run homes for elderly and ailing military veterans, including a project in West Los Angeles.
Currently, the state operates homes for veterans at Yountville, Barstow and Chula. The expansion will establish facilities in Lancaster and Saticoy and at sites near Fresno and Redding.
The home in West Los Angeles will have about 500 beds.
