They’re Lining Up to Challenge Zee Wayne
Better than a .500 hitter already, Zee Wayne will try to improve his winning percentage in tonight’s ninth, a $12,850 allowance at 350 yards.
Owned by Eresmo Hernandez and trained by Gilbert Alferez, the 3-year-old Pritzi Dash gelding won for the seventh time in 13 starts July 20. He beat $50,000 claimers by a length under jockey Carlos Bautista, who has the mount again tonight.
Among the six other 3-year-olds who will be trying to beat Zee Wayne is Chicks Regard, a California bred.
Completing the field, from the inside out, are Bee Dashing, Signed Corona, who is coming off an Aug. 10 victory for trainer Jaime Gomez; Kiptys First Dash, One Honest Heart, and Golden State Derby also-ran Famous Cartel.
The picks: 1. Biscotti. 2. Falling In Luck. 3. Sand Mountain Tara. 4. Boogie Special. 5. Emmy Time. 6. The Cash Broker. 7. A Lady With Rhythm. 8. Encrypted. 9. Chicks Regard. 10. Makin Memories.
Four! Use Biscotti and Beauty Goes First in the first, single Falling In Luck in the second, use BW Rare Lil Goddess, Sand Mountain Tara and A Blurr Of Dust in the third, and Boogie Special, The Royal Music and Jussis in the fourth.
Shots in the dark: Elainas Snowplow gets a top rider, Joe Badilla Jr., in the fifth after having been claimed for $8,000 at Ruidoso Downs on Aug. 11. Blushing Casady ships in from Idaho in the seventh.
