Injured Police Officer’s Condition Improves
From Times Staff Reports
The condition of a Los Angeles Police Department officer injured in a fiery crash in Van Nuys has improved, authorities said Friday.
Creighton Dawson, 28, was driving his motorcycle Thursday on Balboa Boulevard when a van made a left turn in front of him. The crash broke a fuel line on Dawson’s motorcycle and ignited the gasoline, causing serious burns.
Dawson had second- and third-degree burns on about 30% of his body. He underwent surgery Friday and is in stable condition, a hospital spokesman said.
