Senior Accused of Manslaughter in Movie Ticket Line Altercation

FORT LAUDERDALE, Fla. —  A 68-year-old man has been charged with manslaughter for allegedly punching an older man as they stood in a line for movie tickets.

Irving Rosenberg, 74, who reportedly had told Seymour Schuss’ wife to “shut up,” hit his head on the pavement when Schuss allegedly hit him Nov. 8. He died Nov. 24.

Schuss, who was arrested on a battery charge Nov. 18, surrendered Monday after the charge was upgraded. He was released Monday on $10,000 bond, a Broward County sheriff’s spokesman said.

If convicted, Schuss could face up to 15 years in prison.

“Mr. Schuss is a decent, nonviolent man who’s terribly broken up,” said his attorney, David Sale. “Two families have really been destroyed as a result of this unfortunate incident.”
