Man Arrested in Backyard Shooting

A Ventura man was booked on suspicion of attempted murder for allegedly shooting another man in the cheek during an argument, authorities said Monday.
Police said Rene Lievre, 49, went to Michael Marcier’s house in the 100 block of Leighton Drive late Sunday night, and the men were arguing in the backyard when Marcier was shot. Marcier, 39, was taken to a hospital, where he was in good condition Monday.
Lievre remained in jail Monday in lieu of $500,000 bail, authorities said. His arraignment was scheduled for Thursday.
