* Jodi DeJong, scoring seven of her 10 points in the fourth quarter, made a free throw with 8.7 seconds left to give Westlake Village Oaks Christian a 43-42 victory over Pomona Catholic.
* Nicole Nishinaka’s only points, a three-pointer with 43 seconds left in overtime, gave Cypress a 55-54 victory over Anaheim Loara in a battle to stay out of the Empire League cellar.
* With Sun Valley Village Christian trailing by 17 points in the second half, Christina Throngkham made two free throws with no time remaining in regulation to send the game into overtime.
The Crusaders went on to a 58-52 upset of Saugus Scotts Academy, the Alpha League champion.
* Marissa Raya scored with five seconds remaining to give Pasadena Blair a 38-37 victory over Temple City.
* Noelle Quinn scored the tying basket in the final seconds of regulation and finished with 25 points as Torrance Bishop Montgomery defeated Playa del Rey St. Bernard, 66-61.
BY THE NUMBERS
* El Segundo won’t be in the playoffs, so Kelly Geis ended her career with 1,970 points, a Southern Section-record 511 free throws and 247 three-point baskets, the section’s fourth-best total.
* Brea Olinda has won 20 consecutive Orange League titles, including 152 consecutive league games, a streak that ends next season when the Ladycats move to the Century League.
