Hawk point guard Emanual Davis will have season-ending surgery in the next few days to repair a broken bone in his left wrist.
Davis had hoped to delay surgery until after the season, but a Houston hand specialist said the risk was too great.
Davis, who came to Atlanta from Seattle and was expected to be the starting point guard, has not played since Jan. 12.
He averaged 6.5 points in 29 games this season.
Davis also sat out eight games because of post-concussion syndrome.
To replace Davis on the roster, the Hawks signed forward Ira Newble to a 10-day contract.
Newble averaged 21.4 points with Flint of the CBA.

The Orlando Magic activated rookie guard Jeryl Sasser from the injured list.
Sasser had been sidelined since Jan. 4 because of tendinitis in his right knee.
Sasser was the 22nd selection in last year’s draft.
