With this issue, Tech Times is being discontinued as a separate section of the Los Angeles Times. Added coverage of technology will appear in the Monday Business section and the Thursday Calendar Weekend section.

Expanded coverage in Monday Business will include technology news, profiles of technology companies and figures, and analysis of technology trends and issues.

It also will include Gear, a column that will examine the broad range of technology products introduced each year, features on the melding of technology and entertainment, coverage of e-commerce, analysis of the technology market and sector trends, and question-and-answer profiles of technology industry leaders.

On Thursdays, Calendar Weekend’s new At Home page will feature technology stories about the entertainment experience in Southern California--and how to navigate it. This will include coverage and reviews of video games, gadgets and Internet sites.

Tech Times is being discontinued as a separate section as a result of the Times’ ongoing efforts to make optimal use of the space available in the newspaper. Total space for news and features will be about the same this year as in 2001.
