Separatist Violence Claims 12 in Kashmir
From Times Wire Reports
Twelve people were killed in gunfights in India’s restive portion of Kashmir, authorities said.
Overnight fighting in Kupwara district northwest of Srinagar left a soldier and a commander of the banned Pakistan-based Jaish-e-Mohammed militant group dead, a police spokesman said.
Three soldiers and three militants were killed in two battles elsewhere in the region, and police said suspected rebels shot dead four people, including a member of a pro-government militant group.
