Suicidal Woman Pleads Guilty to Child Abuse

A woman who tried to kill herself and her severely disabled 15-year-old son by ramming her car into a tanker truck pleaded guilty Friday to child abuse.
Agnes Gustilo Aquino, 49, of Fontana was sentenced to a year in jail but will be allowed to serve it in a mental facility, Deputy Dist. Atty. Kathy Cady said.
Police said Aquino told them she tried to kill herself and her son because she was no longer able to care for him. Her van struck the truck in West Covina on Nov. 28, but no one was seriously injured.
