Man Arrested After Carjacking, Chase
A 19-year-old man was arrested in connection with a carjacking in Oxnard after allegedly leading police on a chase through the city early Sunday.
Lino Felipe Hernandez, 19, was booked on suspicion of carjacking and armed robbery, said Oxnard police Sgt. Steven Moore. Police are searching for two other suspects, he said.
Hernandez allegedly flagged down a motorist on La Canada Avenue about 2:45 a.m. Sunday, Moore said. When the driver of the Hyundai stopped, the two other suspects emerged from hiding, one holding a shotgun, Moore said.
The driver was robbed of $1,600 and jewelry and he and a passenger were ordered out of the car at gunpoint, Moore said. The suspects drove off in the car with Hernandez behind the wheel, he said. An officer chased the car for four miles before it crashed into a parked vehicle and the occupants fled.
Hernandez was captured as he hid on a garage roof at a residence in the 2000 block of Norma Street, Moore said. Police recovered the shotgun and $800.
