Woman Held After Guest Shot to Death

Police arrested a woman on suspicion of murder Thursday morning after she told them she had shot a house guest who attacked her with a knife.
Karen Elaine Mandilk, 41, called authorities, who found a man in his 30s shot to death at her gated home in the 4000 block of Rivoli, Newport Beach Police Sgt. Steve Shulman said.
Shulman said that after investigating for several hours, police arrested Mandilk. She was being held Thursday on $250,000 bail.
The identity of the dead man was not released.
