From Times Wire Reports

The State Department said it is authorizing the departure of nonessential personnel from the U.S. Embassy in Jordan and of family members of the official U.S. community there.

Spokesman Philip T. Reeker said the decision results from an assessment of the security situation after the assassination in late October of a U.S. foreign aid employee, Lawrence Foley.

Reeker noted that a State Department regional travel warning has been in effect for some time. No new specific threats have been reported for Jordan, Reeker said.
