The jury in the David Westerfield case spent its third full day Monday, deliberating whether he should be executed or sent to prison for life for the kidnapping and murder of Danielle van Dam, 7.

The six-man, six-woman jury deliberated for slightly more than four hours before recessing for the day, according to court personnel. Westerfield, 50, a self-employed design engineer, was convicted by the same jury Aug. 21 after nine days of deliberation.
