Santorum to Keep His Senate Post
Sen. Rick Santorum of Pennsylvania will stay on as the chamber’s No. 3 Republican despite his remarks about homosexuals, Majority Leader Bill Frist (R-Tenn.) said.
In an interview, Santorum brought up a pending Supreme Court case over a Texas sodomy law. “If the Supreme Court says that you have the right to consensual sex within your home, then you have the right to bigamy, you have the right to polygamy, you have the right to incest, you have the right to adultery,” Santorum said. The lawmaker said his remarks were in the context of a past privacy ruling and not meant as “a statement on individual lifestyles.”
